A note from David Felder

As a philosophy professor at Florida A & M University I was bothered by the price

of the textbooks that I ask my students to buy. Students told me that they could not afford

the texts and I had students trying to complete my courses without buying textbooks.

Meanwhile as a professor I received large expensive books from publishers who expect me

to order texts without even knowing that the texts costs $40, $50, $60 and more. Do they

think I didn't care how much my students would have to spend on books. I did care, and I

decided to do something about the high cost of books. I started Booksuprint to provide

textbooks to students for no more than $10 and to make it so that anyone can be an author

reaching a worldwide audiance. As an author of books I thought were important such as a book

I published with the University Press of Florida titled "How to Work for Peace" I was bothered by

the fact that books are too expensive for many many interested readers and they go out of print to

quickly. Publishers using bound books have to print thousands of copies and can't reprint books

that are sold out unless they think they can sell thousands of copies. With the BooksUPrint

format I can post any book and keep the book available.

As a teacher, an author, a book lover, and a person who is concerned about the control

of publishing by a few large corporations, I believe in what BooksUPrint is doing.

BooksUPrint makes it so that anyone can post a book, Game, article, or other text for anyone

in the world to download. We will insure that texts are available cheaply to all the world's people.
